Finland

Skiing in Finland is predominantly in Lapland, the area situated directly above the Arctic Circle. Breathtaking and peaceful scenery surrounded by ice-sculpted forests and frozen lakes, coupled with un-crowded pistes and resorts give you a refreshing alternative for a ski holiday. Finland’s ski resorts are unlike any other Alpine ski holiday; they offer a completely different experience to that of the Alps. One appealing fact is that Finland is visited far less frequently by British skiers so a great place if you don’t want to follow the crowd.

There are a huge range of other fun activities to be done in the Arctic such as snow-shoeing, ice fishing, ice carting, husky and reindeer sleigh rides or for adrenaline junkies, you can get your pulse racing on one of the exhilarating snowmobile adventures. While a magical visit to Santa is an absolute must for the whole family. If you are really fortunate, you may even be lucky enough to see the Northern lights, lighting up the night's sky with its hypnotic swirling rainbow coloured lights.

It is naturally a nation of incredible beauty and certainly makes an ideal destination for families. The skiing is ideally suited to those of a beginner and intermediate ability, although advanced skiers will love the amazing off-piste opportunities. The ski schools are excellent with English speaking instructors.

The resorts are based at very low altitudes in comparison to some of their European counterparts, but snow is always guaranteed and the conditions are nearly always perfect.
