Austria has some of the best ski resorts in the world which are all relatively easy to get to. There are three main skiing areas in Austria, Tyrol, Voralberg and Salzberg. St Anton, Ischgl, Kitzbuhel and Mayrhofen are all located in Tyrol which is the most popular of the three resorts. Salzburg is the next most popular with other resorts such as Zell am Zee, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Bad Gastein and Kaprun located within the region. And finally Lech and Zurs and Stuben are part of the Arlberg ski area can be found in the Voralberg region. Austria boasts the biggest and best glacier skiing in Europe which provide a considerable amount of summer skiing.

International airports; Innsbruck, Munich, Salzburg and Zurich and all within a few hours of a major ski resort in Austria with St Anton and Mayrhofen both under an hour from Innsbruck . Many of the resorts lifts open in November although on the Austrian glacier the ski lifts run from the start of October through to June. Apart from the effervescent music and après ski scene which Austria has been accustomed to, the nation also boasts some of the best alpine skiing in World.

St Anton is one of Europe’s best ski areas and a popular resort with the British. The resort is also well known for having some of the best snowboarding terrain in Austria, with a vast array of natural obstacles, steep powder fields and drop-offs providing for thrilling free-riding. St Anton also boasts its own train station in the centre of the resort giving it easy access. One of the most resounding qualities of the resort is its après ski scene, bars such as the Mooserwirt, Taps and the Krazy Kanagaroo are the most popular.

Mayrhofen is home to ‘the greatest show on snow’ the Snowbombing festival. The festival offers a unique clubbing experience in the mountains and attracts popular music acts. Snowbombing has one of the best festival atmospheres in the world and attracts skiers and non-skiers alike.
